I have had these tires for about 8,000 moles and they still look new. They pull really good I had a set of Firestone destination AT'S on the truck before and would have to lock it in 4H just to get up my driveway now I just ease on up. The traction in the snow is amazing, never had to lock it in 4x4. I just love these tires so far, still wondering what type of wear I will get and haven't had it in deep mud so can't report on mud pulling, light clayish mud they have been excellent. Getting ready to put a set on my Cargo Van here very soon.
Seriously great tires. Better than my old Blizzaks were in snow/ice. Yet you get 50k miles for warranty. It's awesome! The lack a hair of wet traction and dry traction, but I only believe this is due to my open differential rear end on a truck. I'm sure they would be more than fine if you had a locked rear diff. Even so they still drive very predictably and make nearly zero road noise. I've never been so impressed with a set of tires. Very glad I made the purchase. I'm at about 6k miles and they seem to be wearing very evenly and at the normal rate. I can hardly tell any tread is missing yet. You won't be disappointed in these tires. It's winter tires you can run all season. Only reviews I could find were some videos of a Canadian tire seller on youtube doing reviews and they loved the tire as much as I do.
I have put two sets of these tires on my Ford Ranger, both were bald within one year an less than 20000 miles! They do provide great traction, I was sure footed all winter, yet it still doesn't make up for needing to buy a new set of tires every year.
I was recommended this tire by a friend that lives at 8000 ft in the rockies.I was not disappointed . I live on a very steep drive the tires hold well in pow on incline but they eat up the the snow on flat land as for ice great breaking and cornering long as your driving 09 gmc 4x4
I know that is a bold statement and I stand by it. I put these tires on my f350 that I use for landscaping and to plow snow on Vancouver Island. Terrain here is hilly and this has been the worst snow year in a long time. These tires have way out performed the last two sets I have used. The other two sets were snow and ice specific and way more expensive. I haven't had to chain up once this year and my confidence in these tires has made my job a lot easier. I will be buying these tires again!
These tires have been on for almost two years. One full winter and two half winters on a Jeep Grand Cherokee All Wheel Drive. With approximately 20'000 miles (32'000 kms) on these tires, wear is limited. The vehicle using 235/80R17 tires pulls a 5'000 pound trailer with a 450 pound tongue weight in the summer and has put 3'000 miles (5'000 kms) in temperatures of up to 40 degrees. Winter traction is excellent, and no real problem with snow. The closed lugs do not clear as well as an open lug, but the tire does very well to clean itself. Ice is certainly not as good as Michelin X-ice for example, but this is an all around A/TW. For areas that require the winter mountain snowflake this is a great option. Stopping distances are to be monitored depending on conditions. Used off-road in mud and on rock, this tire does very well. Have used it aired down to 12 pounds and it is fantastic climbing up smooth rock without turning a tire. In Heavy wet mud it does not compare to a M/T, but again it is an A/TW. This tire has great deflection, solid sidewalls, and is a great option for those that will be covering all seasons and need a strong work tire. Its heavy sidewall construction (for a LT tire) make for a firm ride, and is more comfortable with lower psi, or weight in the vehicle. That being said it will handle high pressures well, and we regularly run at 60 psi when towing.
After reading the Consumer review, I had a new set of Cooper Discover AT/W, 245/ 75-16E installed my 2004 Tacoma 4wd before driving up from San Jose, CA to Lake Tahoe/ Reno area for the weekend on Jan. 19, 2017 and was absulutely impressed by these tires! Jan 2017 is a record year for Snow in the Sierras, this weekend storm is one of 3 which I'm facing driving through HWY80. So far these tires grip through deep snow and plowed roads. There is a hum, music to my ears at speeds on dry roads which I'm used too with all AT tires I've had on the past and my friends barely noticed with the radio on. So far this All Terrain rated tire had the best winter grip I've used, better than Goodyear Silent Armor, BFG KO2s, and Duelers. Can't wait to drive these through mud and rocks at Hollister, CA and Moab in May!
I just drove into work on new wet snow, slush and snow over ice on the side streets without a bit of worry. The tire tracks very well through the slush at highway speed, has pulled up a steep driveway that was packed and refrozen snow (boiler plate as it is called), and easily pulled through six to eight inches of snow during a recent storm. A lot of tires will do that in a straight line but these tires take you around corners without breaking a sweat. The only time I had a bit of panic was on an ice covered road where I went into a corner too fast, like 25 MPH, and only studs would have gripped. We spent almost two week in the back country of Wyoming last summer and there was nothing we threw at these tires that they couldn't handle. Rocks, loose dirt, mud, stream crossings... all good. I don't think these would perform well in deep mud, but the light mud covered fire road and the muddy field we traversed were no problem at all. Tire wear has been above average and in 20,000 miles they look great. I have not measured them so that is on looks alone. Very little highway noise that I can hear over the Jeep's diesel engine, and the wind noise from the roof rack. Great tires and they will be on my next adventure vehicle.
I got the LT ATWs because because they were a little higher and the tread was a couple 32nds deeper. I love the tires driving here in northern MN in Winter. The tires are a little loud after about 60 MPH but it's not an annoying sound But the traction on hard packed snow and ice is super. I researched tires for weeks to put on my 2010 Chev 4X4. I take an Icey turn and I purposely try to slide in the turns but these tires hold solid. The lugs and grooves are really much larger than the advertising pictures show. It's a tire compound ahead of its time. This new tire compound can be used year round and the tire has a 50K warranty
I had these installed on my 2014 Ram Power Wagon to replace the off road tires that came on it, which were great off road but terrible on snow and ice. Right now we are in the midst of our first major snow and ice storm up here in frozen North Dakota and these tires are fantastic, great traction and braking on ice and compacted snow, also much quieter than the other tires, couldn't be more pleased.
These tires were great in the snow and a quiet ride on the freeway. I've put right about 20k miles on them with regular rotations and balance and they're down to 6/32". They're currently installed on an unmodified TOYOTA Tundra with OEM sizing. I'm not happy with the wear at all to say the least. They were less expensive than the TOYO Open Country A/T II I had on previously, but looks like I'm heading back to TOYO's. Wish they had better wear.
Living in North Dakota we are guaranteed two things - ice and snow! I've been though a plethora of tires on my trucks, from the AT3, BFG KO, Goodyears and Falkens - NOTHING HAS BEAT THE ATW for snow performance yet!!! I have just over 10K on these tires and they are showing no signs of wear, on a 2009 Silverado Crew Cab 1500. I went from sliding everywhere on ice to feeling like I had studded tires, these are phenomenal! I'm purchasing a new truck this summer and having the dealer install these tires before I take delivery, I think they are that great!!! Snow performance - I fish Devils Lake and drive my truck out there; I will hit pockets of snow greater than 2' deep - these tires pulled right through without concern. Ice performance - My Wild Peak AT's slid all over the place; put these on and the same road on the same day and I felt like I was driving on pavement. Road noise - these are quieter than the Wild Peaks but will have slightly more noise than a factory tire. Gas mileage - I saw an increase from my Wild Peaks of approximately 1.5 MPG (275/60R20) which isn't much off of "factory" mileage. The compound is a little softer but I noticed no negatives to this, I will say winter driving conditions warrant this tire over the AT3 anyday!
